Seed Starting Schedule

Work backward from transplant to understand how early a batch must begin, then check forward against every other batch using the same shelves.

Try your own numbers

Start on 2027-03-14 for 48 consecutive stage days

Check the whole season

Count distinct stages once

Enter germination separately from initial growth. If your packet’s total lead time already includes germination, do not add it twice. In Seedling Space, stages are consecutive and their durations add together. Space is released at the next stage boundary, not one day later.

Translate your target into a window

A target is a preference unless you mark it fixed. Earlier and later sowing limits define what the repair tool is allowed to try. The app does not decide suitable outdoor conditions or infer frost safety. You choose the transplant assumptions for your location and crop.

Review the schedule after changes

When a stage takes longer than expected, edit its length and regenerate the capacity check. Extending a small-pot stage can postpone both the larger pot-up footprint and the transplant date. Lock any already-completed decisions before exploring future changes.

Worked example

7 days germination + 21 days initial growth + 21 days after pot-up + 7 days hardening off equals 56 days. A March 1 sowing releases capacity at transplant on April 26, 2027.

These calculations describe space and time, not guaranteed plant performance. Use your actual equipment and crop-specific growing guidance.
